Lack of Subscriber Growth in Canada Surprises Netflix

Netflix reports that during first quarter 2011, only 290,000 Canadians subscribed down from 510,000 in the previous quarter ending December 2010.  Netflix also reported the total number of Canadians currently subscribed was 800,000.  Reading a report on the National Post, they seem to think that the bandwidth caps are hurting Netflix growth in Canada. Netflix has posted a chart showing the performance of the top Canadian Internet Service Providers. The chart is exactly how I would have imagined and doesnt really offer any surprises.  Shaw provides both 50MB and 100MB packages, Rogers provide up to 50MB,  while Bell and Telus top out  at 25MB.  This chart shows exactly those results.
