Netflix has finally arrived on Boxee Box

Boxee Box

Boxee Box has been promising North America the ability to stream Netflix on the new set top media streamer by D-Link. We just got word today that the latest update now available does in fact have Netflix.  The single biggest complaint about the Boxee Box, released in September of 2010, was that Netflix was supposed to be available on launch day.  Even the box was printed with Netflix as a partner.

“Netflix support was the most common request we had on our blog comments, forum posts, tweets, etc.  We heard you loud and clear. We were bummed that we could not make it happen earlier, but are very excited to have it out today”, said Avner Ronen of Boxee.

To install the Netflix app on your Boxee Box, you’ll need to update the software on Boxee. It will update automatically to the new version (1.0.4.17443) within the next 24hrs or you can manually check for the update by going to Settings>System>Update.

Enjoy yet another method of watching Netflix!

  1. too late. bought apple tv which already had netflix. The boxee is now sitting out in the garage. anyone want a used 2 month old boxee?

  2. Awesome. I’ll definitely take it off your hands.

  3. I actually enjoy Boxee Box the best out of all my streamers, followed by the xTreamer. Apple TV 2 is very close 3rd, and only with the recent XBMC news did it move the ATV to 3rd. Now if we can mix Boxee with Apple TV, to give us a media box that plays 1080P .mkv files, and also allows an “airplay” type wireless feed from our smartphones/tablets, we would finally have a winner.
