Things to do while under Quarantine

Haven’t you always asked for more time to get things done around the house? Well whether you like it or not, now is that time but if everything is done and caught up what are you doing with your time to stay sane? We’ve put together a list of things to keep you occupied and if you have any tips, send them our way and we will add to the list.

What to watch?

Monday – Metallica Mondays has been great. Each Monday you can find a new live show posted on the Metallica Youtube channel. So far performances from Ireland, France, Denmark, San Francisco, and Germany have streamed on Youtube in 1080P quality. Get your tv casts ready and catch the action every Monday at 8:00PM ET. Past performances are still being shown on their channel as well.

Wednesday – Great Canadian Kitchen Party is a concert of mostly acoustic performances put on through facebook live by some kickass Canadian artists and hosted by George Stroumboulopoulos. The idea is to boost the local restaurant business and lauch #TakeoutDay every Wednesday until things go back to normal. And if you aren’t comfortable with ordering takeout, the option to purchase gift cards will support them more than you know. If you missed the show last week, catch the replay below.

Friday – Andrew Lloyd Webber is offering up free streams of past live performances on his Youtube channel. Such shows as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Phantom of the Opera were streamed on Youtube for 48 hours and raised funds for Covid19 efforts in the UK. There is no word yet on what is coming Friday but you can check it out at 7PM EST this Friday and every Friday.

Also Friday – Post Malone is doing a livestream on Youtube and will be paying tribute to Nirvana so let’s hope its done right. Tune in at 6:00PM ET. Here is a teaser of Post Malone from the 2017 House of Blues in Boston.

Every night – Almost every night George Stroumboulopoulos has been entertaining Canadians on his Facebook Live and Instagram Live. He has been playing the piano, sharing past stories from Hockey Night in Canada (some stories are being kept secret), and also from his days on The Hour an Muchmusic. He has also pulled out a mixer and whipped up some epic playlists you don’t want to miss. Guests include Canadian treasures Tom Green, Russell Peters and many others.

Netflix

Ozark – If you haven’t started now is the time. Season 3 has was just released March 27.

The Last Dance – This docuseries gives a definitive account of Michael Jordan’s career and the 1990s Chicago Bulls, packed with unaired footage from the 1997-98 season. There are two episodes to get started and it looks like every Sunday another two episodes will air.

Money Heist – Money Heist is a Spanish heist crime drama television series that was picked up by Netflix worldwide and with a larger budget produced seasons 3 & 4.

Apple TV Plus

Home Before Dark – We have been binge watching this show with our kids and they are just as hooked as we are. Just what was needed for family time.

Amazing Stories – Reimagining the classic 80’s anthology from Steven Spielberg, there are 5 episodes to keep you wanting more.

*Just a note that an Apple TV is not required to watch Apple TV+. We have been using a Fire tv stick but an Apple ID is required. If you do want to pick up an Apple TV, now is a good time as Apple TV+ is still free for the first year.

What to Drink?

If you are in the need to try something new here’s a few local ideas..

Sandbagger – Recently discovered and these are super delicious. A 24 pack of Sandbagger Hard Seltzer (Spiked Lemon Seltzer) can be delivered for $66/case but in a very limited delivery area including Peterborough, Durham Region, Barrie, and Windsor. Try it out today!

Cameron’s Brewing – Located in Oakville ON, Cameron’s is providing delivery across Ontario. Be sure to check out Jurassic IPA, 12 Mile IPL and their west-coast style Ambear Red Ale.

Pink Whitney – We cannot leave the Pink Whitney off this list. Support your local LCBO if you can find it in stock. We have been very successful in utilizing the LCBO website which is very up to date on inventory levels. Before you go adding mix, try it straight on ice.

What to Eat?

Do not forget #TakeOutDay is every Wednesday to help support your local restaurants. If you are in the mood for Pizza, Pizza Hut has their $5 special on for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th pizzas. Cant finish it all? Freeze it!

If you are looking for groceries, you can try your luck with instacart. We find the best time to book your slots is between 4:00am and 6:00am. One of our favourite stores has been Wholesale Club if you have one in your area. Buying in bulk has reduced the number of times we need to order groceries and also the amount of times someone needs to be going into stores.

Got any tips or deals? Send them in! Stay safe!
