Apple will be launching the iPad 2 in Canada, this Friday March 25 at Apple Retail stores and select Apple Authorized Resellers at 5PM local time. With the US launch, the store will shut down a few hours prior to prepare and the lineups will form during this time.
The pricing details have been released and are as follows:
16GB White/Black WiFi – $519
32GB White/Black WiFi – $619
64GB White/Black WiFi – $719
16GB White/Black 3G – $649
32GB White/Black 3G – $749
64GB White/Black 3G – $849
If the launch is anything like the US launch, the 3G tablets will be extremely rare. And just to confirm, the tablet will be sold unlocked so you can decide which of the 3 carriers (Rogers/Bell/Telus) you choose for a data plan.
And do not forgot to accessorize your iPad 2. There are 2 choices of smart covers to protect your investment. The covers are priced at $39 USD and $69 USD and come in both poly and leather materials.
We have been enjoying our iPad 2 (64GB White WiFi) and similar to every new iPhone release, when we look at the iPad 1, we just shake our heads. Apple always finds a way to make new products that much better. However, be warned that the camera quality is not great and definitely not the camera they used with the iPhone 4. For what you will use the camera for, it will do just fine, but it would have been nice to have better cameras included. Perhaps this is more of a reason for iPad 3?

It’s disappointing that the iPads are $20 more in Canada when both Motorola & Rim will be selling their new tablets for the same as their US prices. I guess it’s the price we have to pay for the privilege of owning an iPad in Canada….
I guess that is one way to look at it Paul. The other way to look at this would be very positive. This is the first Apple product to not launch with the standard $50 exchange difference. Just last month with the new Macbook Pro models, Apple followed suit with the $50. And also with the original iPad. Step in the right direction for sure!
I thought they were meant to change the release date due to the earthquake affecting manufacturers? Do you know when the release date is for the smart covers? I hace picked the one that i want on iPad 2 Smart Covers
