Apple Security Flaw allows full access to contacts and Phone

Those with Apple 4.1 iPhone devices who think they are safe with a passcode, think again. It has been discovered that a huge security hole exists in the iOS firmware. No comment yet from Apple but we expect to see one shortly. This will impact any iPhone at 4.1, jailbroken or not. To test for yourself,

1) at the Passcode screen, select Emergency Call.

2) Enter a random # in, ex: 555, and then press the green dial button.

3) Quickly hit the lock button (top right of your iPhone)

You should now be looking at the contacts, and have full acess to call history, as well as the ability to make phone calls, even long distance ones!

Expect to see 4.1.1 sometime before tomorrow to fix this HUGE hole.

UPDATE #1

Apple has responded QUICKLY and advised “We’re aware of this issue and we will deliver a fix to customers as part of the iOS 4.2 software update in November,”.
