Kurrent : The Best Alarm Clock with Qi Wireless Charging

If you have stayed at a Mariott or Sheraton hotel in the last year or so this product may look a tad bit familiar. Kube Systems has designed a new alarm clock that features all of the great features you may remember in their audio clock, but with a great new addition, the Qi wireless charging pad.

The Kurrent features two auto sensing usb ports so you can plug any device in and be assured you are getting a quick charge. There are also two attached charging cables (micro usb and MFI lightning) to charge additional devices. And if micro usb or lightning ports aren’t your thing, you can order USB type C and swap them out.

If you lost track of just how many devices you can charge, we have counted a total of 5, and there is still an additional plug to charge your laptop of choice. Oh and did I mention, it also serves as an alarm clock? The alarm clock is a standard tone that cannot be changed and is very minimalist but does the job great. And if you lose power, the backup battery ensures you will not need to perform any resets.

The Qi wireless charging pad is optional but required if you have any of the following devices:

  • iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, or iPhone X
  • Samsung (S8, S8+, S7, S7 Edge, Note 5, and S6)
  • Google Nexus (4,5 & 7)
  • Lg (Lucid 1, Lucid 2, G3, and G6)
  • Motorola (Maxx and Mini)
  • And there are some Blackberry devices such as PRIV and Z30 that will work and other Microsoft phones for the few stragglers out there..
  • Beats Headphones and other various wearables

Pros:

  • Charge up to 6 devices (auto sensing usb ports)
  • Future-proof, upgradeable
  • Built in charging cables
  • AC Power Outlet for laptops
  • Simple to use Alarm Clock
  • Battery Backup

Cons:

  • Price is on the high side but once you have used it, there is no turning back
  • Unable to change default alarm tone or sync with mobile device to have music
  • No AM/FM Radio
