Late Breaking Story on the CBC..Hip Final Concert to be Broadcast and Streamed LIVE on CBC

After a few weeks of disappointment with being unable to snag tickets to the final tour of the Tragically Hip, the CBC has announced it will be broadcasting and streaming the final August 20 date LIVE! The Man Machine Poem tour will begin July 22 in Victoria BC and make its way back to Ontario with 3 shows in Toronto.

After Ticketmaster and stubhub took away chances of getting affordable tickets to see the Hip one last time, fans took to online petitions and open letters address to management and CBC listened! According to Heather Conway, CBC’s executive vice-president, English Services, said the band’s summer tour will be important.

“The Tragically Hip’s enigmatic sound, their poignant and witty lyrics, and the unique, special relationship they have with their fans have helped define and influence our identity as Canadians,” she said in a statement.

“CBC and the Hip are so happy to be able to share this event with all Canadians and bring audiences across the country and around the world together to celebrate the moment.”

The Kingston show will begin at 8:30pm ET, and will be broadcast and streamed COMMERCIAL FREE on CBC Television, CBC Radio One, CBC Radio 2, cbcmusic.ca, and CBC’s Youtube channels.

In other exciting news, our Man Machine Poem LP shipped from Amazon this morning so if you didn’t order yours yet, what are you waiting for!
