The iPhone 5 will ship with 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB  with prices of $179, $279, and $379 respectively on 3 year contracts and will be in available in Canada on September 21. Please keep in mind, if you are not eligle for an upgrade, your carrier will charge you a penalty or upgrade fee. For example, if you purchased an iPhone4S last year with Rogers, they will be charging you $325 to perform the upgrade, on top of the cost of the hardware, and they also apply a admin fee, and taxes! So please contact your carrier and ask about your eligibility for an upgrade.

The iPhone 5 will ship with iOS 6 which is available for download on September 19 if you are anxious to test with your current supported iOS device. iOS 6 has some great new features such as Do Not Disturb and 3G Facetime availability.

Are you lining up on September 21? Please also use caution with any Reservation systems the carriers may offer. If you try to reserve a device using the system, there is a good chance you will not receive the device on the launch day. The best way to ensure you get your device on launch day is to line up and line up early! And by early, 10 minutes before the store opens is not early enough, you who is yelling at the entire line up, furiously running back and forth trying to count heads to how many available devices the retailer has announced! Yes, folks it does happen and I have seen it happen every launch so far.

UPDATE #1: The lightning adapter is currently available for purchase on the Canadian Apple Store for $35 bucks. Also the earlier leaked earbuds are included with the new iPhone 5 or available for purchase seperately for $35 on the Apple Store.  (Or the US Apple Store for $29 if you are visiting the USA and want to save some dough!)

UPDATE #2:  So it appears Apple will not be selling an unlocked model at the retail store at launch. For anyone looking to buy an unlocked model, you will need to do it online via preorder if you have not done it yet! Sounds like there will be many disappointed customers not getting the device on opening day.  The Globe and Mail is also reporting an iPhone 5 will need to be activated before it leaves the store, which may also disappoint many.
